KCI Airport Welcomed 9.6 Million Passengers in 2013

Traffic up 10.3% for December

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that total December passenger traffic at Kansas City International Airport was up 10.3 percent over 2012 figures, with 819,480 passengers arriving and departing through its gates during the month. During December passenger boardings at KCI were up 10.2 percent, with a total of 416,179.

For all of 2013 KCI Airport recorded 9,644,264 passengers using the facility, which represents a decrease of 1.1 percent from 2012. For the year to date, boardings at KCI totaled 4,818,709 a decrease of 1.1 percent from the same period last year.

The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for December was 186. Service was offered to 46 nonstop markets. There was an average of 34,415 arriving and departing seats available in the market each day, up 1.0 percent from last year.

Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at KCI were up 5.1 percent in December. For the year to date, air cargo at KCI is up 2.7 percent from the same period last year. Air freight handled at KCI during December amounted to 16.1 million pounds, which represents a year-over-year increase of 3.5 percent. Air mail for December was up 195.2 percent from December 2013. The all-cargo carriers reported 5 daily departures for December.
