KCI Airport Passenger Traffic for August


The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that Kansas City International Airport recorded 826,063 passengers arriving and departing through its gates in August, which represents a decrease of 1.1 percent from August 2012. Passenger boardings at KCI were down 1 percent, with a total of 404,829 during August. For the year to date, boardings at KCI totaled 3,215,500, a decrease of 3.7 percent from the same period last year.

The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for August was 177. Service was offered to 45 nonstop markets. There was an average of 36,539 arriving and departing seats available in the market each day, up 5.1 percent from last year.

Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at KCI were up 3.8 percent in August. For the year to date, air cargo at KCI is up 4.2 percent from the same period last year. Air freight handled at KCI during August amounted to 17.4 million pounds, which represents a year-over-year increase of 2.6 percent. Air mail for August was up 78 percent from August 2012. The all-cargo carriers reported 4 daily departures for August.
