Do you love the smell of jet-fuel, and the idea of learning in a fast-paced environment? If so, the Kansas City Aviation Department has an internship that can help your career "take off".

Overview
The intern will support the marketing and communications function of the Kansas City Aviation Department in keeping the award-winning social media pages for Kansas City International Airport fresh and engaging. Work will include: providing recommendations to the department on key strategies, assessing and analyzing data to generate insights, manage the day to day presence of the airport’s social media channels, various support related activities.

Responsibilities
• Produce content and campaign plans in partnership with marketing team members
o Track and schedule key events and content activities
o Maintain an engaging content inventory
• Utilize content management systems and monitoring tools to measure the health of the KCI Airport brand
• Support the day to day presence of social media channels
o Monitor and report on trends
o Collect site analytics
o Review customer comments in social channels
o Report key issues and events
• Assess ways to cultivate relationships with social media influencers and key community members
• Actively stay up to date on airport and airline industry news, as well as social media best practices

Education
• Must be a current student pursuing an undergraduate degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field.

Knowledge/Skills
• Ability to use Microsoft Office products (Word, Powerpoint, Excel)
• Experience with social media and content management required
• Analytics, PC and Design Skills preferred (exposure to Photoshop, Gimp, or similar design programs)

• Strong written and verbal communications skills

Compensation
The position is unpaid, but credit hours can be arranged with the university.

Schedule
Part-time, hours to be arranged with student based on schedule and availability

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
