KCI Airport Extends Free Parking in Cell Phone Waiting Area

After a trial period the Kansas City Aviation Department has elected to permanently offer the free cell phone waiting area in Kansas City International Airport Economy Parking Lot A. The cell phone waiting area gives meeters, greeters and well-wishers a free on-airport place to await travelers’ flights to arrive. To allow for the unexpected, two hours of free parking are now available in the cell phone waiting area designated in Economy Parking Lot A. Regular rates up to the $6 daily rate apply after two hours.

Using the cell phone waiting area in Economy Lot A will save drivers from continually driving around the airport or parking in unauthorized areas while waiting for flights. The new www.flykci.com mobile web site can aid cell phone users in tracking flight arrival times. The cell phone waiting area should save energy, lessen pollution and alleviate traffic. Drivers should especially note that federal regulations prohibit curbside parking except for immediate loading and unloading.

KCI Economy Parking is conveniently located just minutes from the terminals off the main airport roadway and off the I-29 Mexico City Avenue exit. For closer in short-term parking, it is just $1 for the first 30 minutes of Garage and Circle parking.

The Kansas City Airport System is an Enterprise Fund Department of the City of Kansas City, Mo., and is supported wholly by airport user charges.
