KCI Airport reports July traffic


The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that Kansas City International Airport recorded 961,586 passengers arriving and departing through its gates in July, which represents a decrease of 1.8 percent from July 2009. Passenger boardings at KCI were down 1.4 percent, with a total of 486,227 during July. For the year to date, boardings at KCI totaled 2,885,032, an increase of 1.5 percent from the same period last year.

The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for July was 200. Service was offered to 48 nonstop markets. There was an average of 39,268 arriving and departing seats available in the market each day, down 4.0 percent from last year.

Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at KCI were up 1.3 percent in July. For the year to date, air cargo at KCI is down 3.8 percent from the same period last year. Air freight handled at KCI during July amounted to over 15 million pounds, which represents a year-over-year increase of 4.1 percent. Air mail for July was down 47.2 percent from July 2009. The all-cargo carriers reported 4 daily departures for July.
