KCI Airport passenger traffic up 1.3 percent in January |
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that Kansas City International Airport recorded 676,702 passengers arriving and departing through its gates in January, which represents an increase of 1.3 percent from January 2009. Passenger boardings at KCI were up 2.1 percent, with a total of 341,456 during January.
The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for January was 195. Service was offered to 49 nonstop markets. There was an average of 36,014 arriving and departing seats available in the market each day, down 2.6 percent from last year.
“We saw passenger traffic rebound in late 2009 and that trend is continuing," said Justin Meyer, air service development manager for the Kansas City Aviation Department. "We hope that newly announced Midwest Airlines service to Columbus and New Orleans will further spur KCI traffic."
Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at KCI were down 15.1 percent in January. Air freight handled at KCI during January amounted to over 14 million pounds, which represents a year-over-year decrease of 13.8 percent. Air mail for January was down 35.2 percent from January 2009. The all-cargo carriers reported four daily departures for January.
