KCI Airport reports May traffic |
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that the Kansas City International Airport recorded 867,590 passengers arriving and departing through its gates in May, which represents a decrease of 12.2 percent from May 2008. Passenger boardings at KCI were down 13.8 percent, with a total of 443,674 during May. For the year to date, boardings at KCI totaled 1,888,861, a decrease of 17.3 percent from the same period last year.
The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for May was 207. Service was offered to 48 nonstop markets. There was an average of 39,082 arriving and departing seats available in the market each day, down 13.2 percent from last year.
Air cargo tonnages, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, for all carriers at KCI were down 30.4 percent in May. For the year to date, air cargo at KCI is down 25.6 percent from the same period last year. Air freight handled at KCI during May amounted to over 14 million pounds, which represents a year-over-year decrease of 29.8 percent. Air mail for May was down 40.4 percent from May 2008. The all-cargo carriers reported 4 daily departures for May.
