KCI Airport reports April traffic


The City of Kansas City, Mo., Aviation Department reports that the Kansas City International Airport recorded 772,004 passengers arriving and departing through its gates in April, which represents a decrease of 11.9 percent from April 2008. Passenger boardings at KCI were down 14.2 percent, with a total of 387,327 during April. For the year to date, boardings at KCI totaled 1,445,187, a decrease of 18.1 percent from the same period last year.

The number of peak-day scheduled aircraft departures for April was 207. Service was offered to 48 nonstop markets. There was an average of 38,030 arriving and departing seats available in the market each day, down 17.3 percent from last year.

KCI recorded air cargo tonnages for the carriers, which consist of both freight and mail transported by air, were down 29.3 percent in April. For the year to date, air cargo at KCI is down 24.4 percent from the same period last year. Air freight handled at KCI during April amounted to over 15 million pounds, which represents a year-over-year decrease of 29.3 percent. Air mail for April was down 30.3 percent from April 2008. The all-cargo carriers reported 5 daily departures for April.
