Southwest Airlines to Add Nonstop Service from Kansas City to Ft. Lauderdale, Add Denver Flights

KANSAS CITY, June 26, 2008 – Southwest Airlines announced today that the carrier will add service in select markets and tweak its schedule. On November 2, Kansas City International Airport will see service enhancements with new nonstop service to Ft. Lauderdale with one flight per day, and two new daily departures to Denver. Southwest will cease serving Sacramento. The airline currently offers 72 daily departures from KCI, and there are 240 total daily departures at KCI.

Kansas City International Airport is one of the nation’s most passenger-friendly airports. The newly remodeled terminals at KCI feature 50 percent more restaurant and retail space, restroom facilities and concessions inside the gates and free wireless Internet. KCI offers affordable terminal-specific parking, free airport shuttle services and low average wait times at security screening checkpoints.

The Kansas City Airport System is an Enterprise Fund Department of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, and is supported wholly by airport user charges. No general tax fund revenues are used for the administration, promotion, operation or maintenance of the airports in the system. Visit www.flykci.com.
