Air Canada Jazz Increases Capacity Between Kansas City International Airport and Toronto, CanadaAdditional Flights Begin on June 15 |
KANSAS CITY, MO., March 4, 2008 – Officials at the Kansas City Aviation Department today announced a doubling of nonstop service between Kansas City International Airport and Toronto, Canada, from one to two daily departures. The additional service begins on June 15 and will be operated by Air Canada Jazz. Air Canada and its affiliates have provided nonstop service between the KCI and Canada since August 5, 1996.
"We are pleased with this increase in service and greatly appreciate the commitment Air Canada Jazz has shown to the Kansas City market,” said Mark VanLoh, director of aviation for the department. “More than 10,000 passengers flew between Kansas City and Toronto last year with 85 percent on connecting itineraries. This additional frequency will greatly improve travel options for business and leisure travelers alike.”
Toronto is a clean, safe, cosmopolitan city with a wonderful network of parks, recreational and cultural facilities. One of the world's most ethnically diverse cities, it is home to more than 80 ethnic communities from Africa, Asia and Europe. Toronto is the largest city in Canada and is the provincial capital of Ontario. With over 2.5 million residents, it is the fifth-most populous municipality in North America and is the business center of Canada.
"Air Canada provides the only daily nonstop service between Kansas City and Toronto, the largest city in Canada. Travelers from Kansas City and the surrounding area will not only have greater access than ever to the vibrant, multi-cultural city of Toronto, they can also take advantage of Air Canada's global network. Our Toronto hub makes it convenient for travelers from the U.S. to connect to our expansive network and travel elsewhere within Canada or onward to Europe, Asia and beyond. As well, most travelers flying within Canada or overseas will have by this summer personal audio visual entertainment systems, a power plug and USB port at every seat and, in our Executive First overseas service, true lie flat pods," said Ben Smith, Executive Vice President, Commercial, at Air Canada.
Schedules and fares for the new flights are now available at http://www.aircanada.com.
The Kansas City Airport System is an Enterprise Fund Department of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, and is supported wholly by airport user charges.
